And it’s out! The much awaited 2011 Ford Explorer is finally unveiled after Ford released teaser pictures and trailers for months. Sporting a much sleeker design than your standard Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), some even say that it’s not even an SUV. Ford here may be trying to break through the SUV mold as expressed by Digital Marketing Scott Monty, claiming that this radical change is actually the 2011 Ford Explorer fully reinvented.
Amy Marentic, Ford Group Marketing manager in a press release remarked. “Today’s SUV customers really aren’t interested in compromising. They want luxury, convenience and technology with their all-road capability. Until now, they had to choose a luxury SUV to get the features they want – a feature level that this all-new, industry-leading Explorer now exceeds.”
Ford also recently revealed the 2011 Ford Explorer specs. It sports a V6 engine with 3.5 liter capacity, an EcoBoost engine and an insane six-speed transmission that goes hand in hand with the 4 wheel drive (4WD) system. These provide settings to handle most terrains that put the 2011 Ford Explorer beyond the regular SUVs. Other features of the new Ford Explorer include technology that is usually found in premium SUVs such as the blind spot monitoring that goes very well with the sleek new design of the SUV. If all else fails and crash is inevitable, air bags are also installed.
The interior of the 2011 Ford Explorer is icing to the cake. Inside is a blend of European design that focuses more with driving dynamics while adding touches of American comfort. The dashboard itself blends with the car that matches the contour of the exterior.
Sleek, smooth, and efficient it’s basically an SUV crossover with a lot of features gearing to customers who want to drive an SUV anywhere and everywhere they want.
