Geminid Meteor Shower What is the Best time to view it?

The meteor is named after the location it comes from which is from the Gemini constellation location. It is called by Astonomers as the best meteor shower as the year. Many are expected to see more than 100 space rocks to light up the sky for four days starting this Sunday. However the best time to view them will be on Tuesday, December 14, 2010. The Geminid meteor shower is usually visible during December 12 to December 16 every year. This year makes it special as a total lunar eclipse will occur right afterwards and North Americans will be able to see it on December 20.

Meteor showers are celestial phenomenon when space rocks enter the atmosphere and burn up. The light it produces form streaks until it vanishes. Due to advance in astronomy, ordinary people now have information on the accurate dates the meteor shower takes place. Some people though, fear the meteor showers thinking that it might cause damage if a meteor strikes Earth. Scientists explain that most of the rocks are very small and they burn out while entering the atmosphere. As for bigger rocks that do crash into Earth, most of the time they hit the ocean instead of land as the Earth is made up of lots of water bodies than land.

The Geminid meteor shower might be one of the few celestial phenomena appearing this late of the year so Astronomers and star gazers be ready to view meteor shower as it will be another year before we can see it again.

Glee Season 2 Episode 10 A very Glee Chistmas Review

Glee Season 2 Episode 10 A very Glee Christmas was a nice way to end this year’s episode. Sue the Grinch was a cute addition to the plot, it was especially funny the way she dressed up as the Grinch complete with a Reindog played by Becky.

The main plot however was very cheesy but entertaining. Brittany, not really the brightest bulb in the group, still believes in Santa Claus. Artie, her boyfriend, is torn between telling her the truth or just letting her believe in Santa, even her parents still let her believe in Santa. So the Glee kids spend their time in the mall talking to a Santa impersonator where Brittany wished that Artie would walk again. Of course this couldn’t happen but Ryan Murphy and writers ended the story well with Artie being able to walk with the aid of a machine, an expensive one at that, given to him by Coach Beiste in secret ala Santa of course.

Finn and Rachel still remain broken, while Finnchel fans mourn, some fans actually are relieved at the idea such as how fans were relieved in the closure of Emma and Will.

One of the highlights of the episode was Kurt and Blaine’s duet with “Baby it’s cold outside”. While the song definitely had sexist overtones if sung with a straight couple, the two out gays in Glee made the song cute and flirty. Blaine really looked like he was flirting with Kurt and the latter was acting very coy about it.

Overall the episode was the cheesiest of the season so far but it’s Christmas and the Glee kids made an adorable choir caroling in front of the teachers as asfund raiser.

Glee Season 2 Episode 10 A very Glee Christmas will have to sustain fans for two months as Glee takes a break next year. Glee Season 2 Episode 11 will be shown in February.

Steve Jobs to Claim Loose Change From Apple How much do they Owe Him?

Steve Jobs may be the lowest paid Chief Executive Officer yet. Even after the immense success of Apple products such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad and Mac, Jobs doesn’t seem to be getting the amount he deserves, no wonder the guy is getting thin.

However, recently a state controller’s office listed an unclaimed property for Steve Jobs amounting to a middling or rather tiny $37.91. Apple already filed a claim for it.

According to sources, the property type of the listed amount was “other” and the spokesman of the controller did not elaborate further on what the “other” means because the information is confidential.

In California, the law states that any property abandoned or lost for three years must have a claim posted  and if after six months the person doesn’t claim it, the property will belong to the state. That happens only if the state has exhausted every attempt to contact the person.

Reportedly, the amount is roughly 38 years worth of work for the Billionaire Jobs who only receives about$1 a year in salary. However he is receiving generous stock options.

There were also other items listed on the controller’s office website. Among which IBM owing Steve Jobs some $21.45 in stock and another posting of $14.30. Even Time Warner claims that they owe Jobs 20 cents.

Cameron Newton Wins Heisman Despite Scandal

Cameron Newton overcomes all odds as he won the Heisman Trophy in a landslide victory no less. Newton bested candidates for the Heisman just the way he dodged tacklers this season. Newton is the third player from Auburn to win a Heisman after receiving 729 first place votes against Andrew Luck of Stanford. The award was given Saturday night in a landslide vote. Unfortunately, there’s not telling yet if Cam can keep the trophy for good.

Auburn Quarterback Newton was under fire the previous month after reports of his alleged pay for play hit mainstream news. According to sources, Cam’s father, Cecil negotiated with assistant coaches from a university to discuss the “fee” of Cam. Allegedly he said that scholarships won’t get his son to play at the college and a rumored six figure amount was discussed and so far the NCAA found no evidence yet of the pay for play scheme done by his father.

Still Newton brushed off the pending NCAA investigation as he received the award last Saturday. Newton was not surprised his name was called but he received it graciously. Newton came with his mother but Cecil on the other hand was nowhere to be found.

“Honestly, it’s a dream come true for me, something every child has a dream (about) that plays the sport of football, and I’m living testimony that anything is possible,” Newton said.

Newton is the most talked about player this year after he carried the Auburn Tigers to the BCS national season against No. 2 Oregon. Analysts marvel at Newton’s prowess leaving behind baffled tacklers in his wake for numerous touch downs.

Already there are talks that Newton will have only a pyrrhic victory just like Reggie Bush who had to return the Heisman Trophy after NCAA found that he and his family were receiving compensation and gifts while Bush was in Southern California.

Iceland Strikes Deal with Britain and Netherlands Financial help

After the historical constitutional amendment plans of having ordinary citizens as framers of the soon to be constitution of Iceland, the country is now asking Britain and Netherlands help. Recently, the country lost nearly 4 billion euros from their Icesave online bank after two years of diplomatic wrangling.

In a new deal with Britain and Netherlands, the country is hoping to have full reimbursements to UK and Dutch governments but with a better set of terms that the previous deal that the Icelandic voters vetoed in a March referendum.

The problem seems to be the collapse of the Iceland banking sector in 2008 that caused the loss of billions of pounds to UK and Dutch depositors.

The deal signals the warming of the relationship between London and Reykjavik and will help Iceland with their bid for help from the International Monetary Fund and its bid to join the European Union.

In the previous deal, more than 90 percent of the Icelandic voters were angered by the proposal that the taxpayers will be burdened with a debt incurred by the mistakes of the bankers and regulators.

The new agreement will be undergoing again approval from the Icelandic parliament and President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson. The new agreement prevents payment of more than 5% of the government revenues and that the interest payment and principal repayments will start in 2016 over 37 years.

2 years ago almost 300,000 British and Dutch savers deposited their money to Icesave after being lured in by high interest rates.

Brett Favre won’t be Sued by Jenn Sterger The Catch

It seems that Jenn Sterger is playing it safe. Phil Reese a public relations manager for Sterger says that Sterger may be offering not to sue (not threatening to sue) confirming the fact that he and Sterger will not be filing any legal action against anyone if only the NFL suspends Brett Favre.

To those who do not know Sterger, she happens to be the girl who Favre allegedly sent inappropriate voicemails. It’s a curious battle between the two as the alleged incident occurred years ago and none of them have filed any legal actions. Analysts surmise that the incident must have been true as Favre is not putting up a legal fight. Some say however that Sterger may be hamming up the incident as the “threat to sue” or “offer not to sue” is the nearest thing to a lawsuit that she has done.

Interview in the Dan Patrick Show

Reese wants the NFL to act immediately. Dan asked if the NFL suspended Favre, would Sterger drop the whole thing. “If the commissioner suspends Favre and puts a program in place to prevent it from happening again … 100 percent, Jenn would not pursue any litigation against Favre, against the Jets, against the NFL. Nothing. All she wants to do is clear her name. This is not about money,” Reese said.

Many are skeptical if Sterger is looking for money or not. The statements came out after the Vikings went against the Jets and many are speculating that the results of the game may have prompted Sterger to action.

Sister Marie Thornton Embezzled $850,000

It’s very rare for media to have news about the mysterious Nuns or sisters in Christian and Catholic Churches. Recently a nun, Sister Marie Thornton allegedly embezzled eight hundred fifty thousand dollars ($850,000) and spen it on herself. According to sources, Thornton used Iona College funds for personal expenses from 1999 to 2009. She was then the Vice President of Finance and used her position to submit false invoices while Iona College paid her credit card bills. No details of her expenses have yet been released.

62 year old Thornton was arrested last Thursday and pleaded not guilty in the court of Manhattan. She was also allowed to be free while her Attorney Sanford Talkin is expecting a resolution that will be fair to all sides.

Thornton is a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph and they have recalled by the order and her activities have been restricted.

Iona on the other hand reported a theft but did not release a name. In a statement last Friday they reported that funds have been misappropriated though the college have yet to name the culprit, the employee has been terminated.

Statements from Iona also include their measures to recover most of the funds lost and are considering the incident as closed as far as the college is concerned.
