Footage of Young Lea Michele Glee’s Rachel Berry Found!

There might be more Rachel Berry in Lea Michele Sarfati than fans could ever guess. A video posted in youtube shows the young Lea Michele being interviewed in MTV Teens. It’s a never before seen footage of 12 year old Lea as well as behind the camera footage of her and her mom for a documentary about motherhood. The then young Glee star said that she really wanted to be treated normally by other kids despite the fact that she was already a Broadway child actress.

The footage shows Lea singing some songs from the Broadway Musical “Ragtime” an adaptation of a novel by E.L. Doctorow. Fans quickly remarked at how Lea’s quirky off screen dialogues and her on screen façade is remarkably the same as her character in popular musical comedy TV series “Glee”.

Watch Lea Michele’s MTV Teen Interview

In the interview the 12 year old remarks that being in the business (Broadway) made her grow up so fast after being around a lot of older actors. In fact, her mother uttered the much needed phrase for Rachel Berry, “You need to loosen up!” For a 12 year old though, her onscreen presence was very impressive for her age. It’s a wonder how a gem like Lea could be below the radar for quite so long seeing as her talent in singing as well as acting has garnered the actress a speedy rise to stardom after starring in Glee just a year ago.

A decade after, Lea Michele might have trouble dissociating herself from her alter ego Rachel Berry, the uber talented but hammy Glee star. Fans were quick to love the bullied teenager she portrayed and some were quick to be annoyed at her attitude. However, after singing a few notes fans love her all over again.

Here’s another video of Lea Michele almost a decade after and note the similarities from the MTV video. You will also see how far Lea has grown from her 12 year old interview.

iPhone Music App may leak your Info to Advertisers

To those who have downloaded the iPhone app Pandora may have been enjoying listening for hours to music. Here’s how it works. Playlists are created through the Music Genome Project which is actually an analysis to attributes of a song (400 or so) which ensures maximum enjoyment. Of course, you need to input your preferences to music in order to get a match on playlists with songs that you will enjoy. So you input your username, password, some contact numbers, possibly the whole biodata and even your phone ID and phone number, after all, the service is FREE. The catch? Pandora sells the information you just typed in to companies which in turn pays for it ensuring Pandora staying on the air.

The online radio network Pandora never made it a secret that they will be getting your personal information. In fact in their Frequently Asked Questions, they’ve placed that the gathered information will be given to advertisers. The purpose is for advertisers to hit their target consumer and their payment for the ad space will in turn keep Pandora on air. Sounds reasonable enough. You listen for free after you’ve put some information about yourself.

Unfortunately, new sources report that the information being released as you listen to music from “Glee” may be TMI in some cases. Though advertisers won’t be getting your real name and email address, Pandora gives a whole lot of information of your mobile phone behavior.

Many can opt out of the advertisements by paying a $36 fee per year which users can enjoy unlimited listening, no ads, and listening to any song you like. Another option is to pay 99 cents a month for 40 hours of music for said month.

Some feel that the information being given out is too much while others say listening to free music has it’s price.

Toyota Gets Fined a record breaking 32.4 Million Dollars

The United States will be collecting a total of 32.4 Million Dollars as fine. According to sources, the fine was implemented after Toyota recalled their products twice this year. The recalls were made after numerous consumers complained of the cars and experts were able to find serious safety breaches.

The penalty was given when consumers complained of the accelerator pedals that get stuck to the floor mats. According to US law, Toyota had to report the defect to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) within 5 days after the defects were found. Toyota allegedly failed in informing the agency.  Another defect caused steering relay rods to break and cause drivers to lose control. So far there have been many injured and some reports show high speed crashes involving again the said defects of Toyota brand cars.

Toyota was already fined a total of 16.4 million dollars bringing the total fines to 48.8 million dollars. Worse than the fines, Toyota was more than eager to comply in order to protect their reputation as the world’s No. 1 automaker with high regards to safety and reliability.

The board of directors of the company already agreed to pay the fine last Tuesday. There are catches to the payment of penalties. First, Japan will pay the penalty without ever admitting to any violation according to US laws. Second however, the payment of the fines does not mean Toyota will be immune to private lawsuits and other federal investigations.

Analysts however say that the fines will not make a big dent on the earnings of the Japan Car making company as the sales of the first half already reached a profit of 1.2 Billion Dollars.

The defects affect a lot of the product lines of Toyota, recall have reached to millions of cars including Hilux Trucks, as well as several US models. So far before the Toyota recalls, only General Motors paid the largest fine in US history of 1 million dollars, however that pales in comparison to what Toyota is going to pay right now.

Broadband Cap Fair Use Policy or Fair Access Policy? Part 2

What is the policy being enforced by ISP?

ISP may be using the “Fair Access Policy” which allows ISP to put up Bandwidth caps or otherwise known as download quota. The use of the bandwidth cap is justified. For someone downloading 20gb compared to another user only using about 1/8, in order to keep the speed and service to a higher quality, a bandwidth cap may be enforced. Some common bandwidth caps start at 5 gb and above per month.

Companies are now becoming transparent with their “Fair Access Policy” and have started to remove the words “Unlimited” and “Unmetered” to their advertisements. Data plans are being sold instead such as 5-10 GB a month or depending on the budget of their subscriber.

Still there are ISPs and even Telecom companies who mislead their subscribers with advertisements of “unlimited” calls and internet browsing. Some have also abused the “Fair Access Policy” by including broad terms such as calls not being used for commercial purposes or lack of information about the bandwidth cap. Abusive companies also include highly inappropriate punishments such as total cut off from services that they advertised as unlimited or unmetered. So far no laws have been made to regulate the “Fair Access Policy” and critics have charged the policy as a way of ISPs and Telecom companies to make their subscribers spend more.

The “Fair Access Policy” should also protect the rights of the consumers. What is missing is the capability of users to monitor what they’ve used so far. Data counters should be made available reflecting accurate download and upload usage. Calls should be counted to the last second and fairer rules should be enforcing rather than broad terms that could be interpreted to the benefit of the company and not the paying subscriber.

Broadband Cap Fair Use Policy or Fair Access Policy? Part 1

Internet service providers (ISP) have begun using the “Fair Use Policy” in keeping the bandwidth traffic as low as possible.

What is the “Fair Use” policy?

Interestingly, the “Fair Use” policy is a limitation and exception the the exclusive right from a copyright law. Basically, it allows someone to use copyright content in such a way that makes it legal. Example would be quoting written content. If it is written in quotation marks and with credits and link, anyone can use copyrighted written content. Another use of the “Fair Use” policy is the parody. It’s the reason why most spoof films that have scenes from famous movies, songs and plays as well as artists are untouched by copyright law.

How is the Fair Use Policy related to bandwidth caps in Internet Service Providers?

ISPs have been putting up “Fair Use” or “Fair Usage” policies without really understanding what the policy really is. As explained, fair use is only for copyrighted content. It’s role in the internet is allowing everyone to quote writings, data and even media as long as it is parodied or has credits. An example is the case of a mother posting a video of her child dancing to Let’s Go Crazy by Prinnce. Universal Music enforced the  Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DCMA) and had Youtube remove the video. The mother was able to successfully return the video after reminding Youtube that it was within the scope of the Fair Use policy and successfully sue Universal Music for acting in bad faith.
