History Channel has piqued the interest around the world as of August 18 at 8 pm ET they will be showing a documentary about the Gates of Hell. Interestingly the gates of hell has been a topic in literature for a very long time. Greek Mythology repeatedly uses various entrances and portals reaching to the underworld or hell used by heroes. Some stories only show the gate to be a regular cave if a bit darker than the rest. Other gates are more fearsome guarded by a three headed beast dog a moat filled with the undead spirits requiring passage on a boat that originally ferries the dead. There is also the belief of Sheol or the abode of the dead. In nearly every religion there is a hell almost always underground and almost always speaks of ever burning suffering.
History Channel documentation Gates of Hell may have uncovered something. Is there truth to the belief that hell is place of eternal fire? In the preview shown, there are six possible places on Earth that are entrances to hell. Some are volcanoes like in Iceland, there is also the lake of fire in Africa and a cave in a Central America jungle. Humans especially Christians believe that there are still portals out there that are intended for the damned. The documentary explore such places in Iceland, Mexico, Greece, Italy and Japan. They might have forgotten though of the Marianas trench, the deepest trench in the world. There might be major gates of hell as well as minor. Who knows, you might have passed by one recently. On the other hand there is an alleged recording of the sounds of hell. Some say it’s a hoax but it’s terrifying to listen to anyway.
